The defence called on only one witness to the stand, Richard Schaeffer, one of the policemen who took down Constand’s original statement. Schaeffer seemed to appear on the stand for only a few minutes, clearing the manner to concluding statements from the defense and the prosecution.

Bill Cosby: Moment of truth, rape trial

A US jury has resumed deliberations Tuesday on to confirm disgraced comedy legend Bill Cosby sexually assaulted a woman at his Philadelphia residence over 13 years.

The 79-year-old American celebrity will be sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted on 3 counts of aggravated sexual assault.

The 12-member jury, which did not reach a verdict on Monday, has been confiscated in the course of their trial. On Tuesday, jurors returned to courtroom asking to hear once more from Cosby’s innovative deposition in the case from 2005. Judge Steven O’Neill then read them an extensive section.

The seven-man, five-woman panel subsequently returned to the deliberation room at round 10 am (1400 GMT) at Montgomery County courtroom in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Bill Cosby returned to courtroom to hear the verdict, dressed in a dark suit and tie.

Also, the jury deliberated for 4 hours over dinner and beyond dusk Monday, before they were sent back to their hotel due to the fact that they couldn’t reach a verdict. The trial marks a precipitous fall from grace for one of the towering figures of twentieth century popular culture, loved by millions as “America’s dad” for his seminal role as a adorable father and obstetrician on hit TV series “The Cosby Show.”

In concluding statements, the prosecution depicted the actor as a sexual predator who intentionally drugged forty-four year old Canadian Andrea Constand so she would not be able to withstand his assault in January 2004.

Bill Cosby refused to testify and his lawyers called on only one witness, a police detective, before they rest their case minutes later on Monday.

However, Andrea Constand’s is just the only criminal case in against him as under US statues of limitations. Most of the alleged abuse came about too long in the past to prosecute.

Justice is so slow. His only escape for this circus is when he passed away.

  2. I hadn’t heard of this particular case before (I’m in the UK). But it sounds awful.
